Lisa Jamu, Founder and Executive Director of Stepping Stones International, brings 28 years of experience in international development and behavior change. She holds a Master’s degree in International Development and Health from American University and a Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University. Her expertise includes health and behavior change communications as well as child and youth development. In Botswana, Lisa has led impactful initiatives including targeted HIV prevention and treatment programs, national youth initiatives, social marketing campaigns, youth co-developed economic strengthening curricula, national research on child-friendly justice, and advocacy for child protection. She founded Stepping Stones International out of a deep commitment to children, recognizing their immense potential and the critical importance of ensuring their protection and wellbeing.

Melissa is the Finance and Administration Director at SSI and a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in strategic financial management, compliance, internal controls, and organizational governance. She holds a BSc in Accounting, an ACCA qualification, an MSc in Accounting, and is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), bringing a strong combination of academic expertise and practical experience. Melissa is deeply committed to upholding the highest standards of compliance and ethical practice, ensuring that SSI operates with integrity and accountability. Her leadership in strengthening internal controls has helped safeguard the organization from financial risk while promoting a culture of transparency and sound financial stewardship.

Community Development Manager
Tinny Seitei has been instrumental in building Stepping Stones International in Mochudi, Botswana, since 2006. She is deeply committed to driving sustainable change and empowering communities through strategic programming, stakeholder collaboration, and advocacy. With over 15 years of experience, Tinny specializes in scaling community-based initiatives focused on gender-based violence prevention, economic development, and positive parenting, while also securing long-term partnerships and donor support. She has successfully led teams and volunteers to expand local impact and played a key role in establishing the organization’s Grandmothers Program, which has reached more than 3,000 grandmothers and grandfathers across Botswana.

Tshepo Alec Paledi is a dynamic leader with over 14 years of experience in NGO management, resource mobilization, and community development. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Theology and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theology and Religious Studies. As a part-time lecturer, he bridges academic scholarship with practical theology. His Master’s-level training in Education Rights and Policy strengthens his advocacy for equitable education, while his Associate Degree in Computer Studies supports the integration of technology to enhance NGO efficiency. Tshepo has contributed to securing significant resources for community development, including support for a million-dollar psychosocial support center funded by the Japanese Embassy and a 15-seater minibus from IDEAL Prepaid. He also co-designed the African Union’s Web-Based Volunteer System, pioneered literacy initiatives, and founded a movement that has helped secure scholarships for more than 700 students, demonstrating his commitment to driving sustainable change within Botswana’s NGO sector.
